OBJECTIVE:

The development of modern understanding of the astronomical universe from planets and stars to galaxies and cosmology.



EXAMS:

There will be FOUR mid-term exams. The exams will consist of 50 multiple choice questions. Makeup exams are only allowed due to serious medical or family emergency or legitimate unavoidable conflicts related to university business.



QUIZZES: 

Part of your grade will be determined on pop-quizzes consisting typically of 5 multiple choice questions.
 


TELESCOPE OBSERVING & SPECTROSCOPY PROJECTS

During the course of the semester, each student is required to complete the telescope observing activity. The spectroscopic activity is optional (5 points). More details about are given here .

Grades for each exam will be computed on a 0-100 point scale. The final grade is assigned using the following conversion table. Plus/minus letter grades are used only for borderline cases.
