This photograph shows the CUBIC instrument on our cleanbench following assembly at Penn State and before delivery to Argentina. The "proboscis" pointing slightly to the right of the viewer holds the aperture (the small square black hole) that defines the instrument field of view. The brass plaque on the left side of the instrument is in memory of our good friend Mario Gulich, the Argentine Project Manager who was instrumental in creating the SAC-B satellite, but who died before the satellite was completed. The entire CUBIC instrument measures 24" by 14" (62 cm x 36 cm) and weighs 69 pounds (31.4 kg).
