This CUBIC Instrument Handbook (formerly Experimenter's Data Package) describes the CUBIC instrument on the NASA/CONAE Satélite de Aplicaciones Científicas ( SAC-B ). The Cosmic Unresolved X-ray Background Instrument using CCDs ( CUBIC ) was built by the Penn State University (PSU) X-ray astronomy group. This version of the Instrument Handbook incorporates changes since the CUBIC integration into SAC-B in February 1995. Portions of this Handbook which differ substantially from the previous version of the EDP are typeset in slanted type for easy identification.
This document serves as both internal PSU documentation for CUBIC and as external documentation for our interfaces with CONAE. In case of any discrepancy between this document and the SAC-B ICD, the ICD takes precedence.
