Welcome to the ASTRO 11 Home for Michele's
Sections!
"The most incomprehensible thing about the universe
is that it is comprehensible."
-Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
I am not teaching any sections of ASTRO 11 at the present,
I was the ASTRO 11 Head TA for 2001-2002, visit the
House of the Head TA for more info.
Some of this information is outdated and does not apply to the lab
manuals dated from Fa '02-Sp '03 and after (I've tried to note when this is
the case), but some of the info is still useful...
Some thoughts about teaching
You may also want to check
out some of the links that I have to astronomy related web sites...
- Links Page - the page
containing ALL of my links
- Neat sites for finding cool
stuff in the sky - you may find these sites particularly useful
for this course
- The Phases of the
Moon - diagrams of how the phases of the Moon look from space and
from Earth
- Lunar Eclipse
Pictures
- Galaxy Slide Show
- The Lives of the
Stars
- SkyGlobe -
one of many sites that you can download the shareware version of
SkyGlobe from (directions and other info on installation can be
found there) - NOTE: SkyGlobe is designed to run only on
PC's, it will not run on Macintosh computers; also the shareware
version available for download is DOS-based (it's slightly different
than the one in the CAC computer labs which is Windows-based), but
can be run from a Windows environment by double-clicking on the
skyglobe.exe file in the File Manager, Explorer,
My Computer, etc. or by creating a shortcut on the desktop.
Some fun
things...
