Dust Globules in the Ring Nebula
The outer regions of the Ring Nebula in Lyra (NGC 6720) are resolved
into myriads of dust features, which appear as dark red structures.
Since the globules are not seen near the central star, it is possible
that the nebula is a torus seen nearly pole-on, rather than a roughly
spherical structure. The width of the Planetary Camera chip (upper left)
is 35 arcsec.
