Earth, Wind & Fire; Environmental Chemistry

Humans directly impact the chemistry of the environment every day. Through studying our impact on the earth, its land, water and atmosphere, we can reduce our negative effects. Common environmental issues in State College and the surrounding areas will be looked at by visiting I-99 (a local interstate), observing CO2 emissions and collecting nutrients in soil. These issues will be studied using methods such as infrared technology, water quality testing, and nuclear magnetic resonance. Overall, your research project will center around worldwide environmental issues on a small scale and then provide scientific data with alternative methods to help the Earth.
