A bee (or wasp, not sure) somehow got into my apartment at some point yesterday. Around 8pm I noticed it crawling on the remote. I FREAKED OUT!!! I can't remember a time I was more scared than this. I ran into my room and closed the door, then realized that by doing this, I am trapping myself and the bee/wasp is still out there. So, with the little bit of courage left in me (and a whole lotta "freak-out"), I went back to the living room, grabbed my car keys and got the hell outta there. Of course, had Judy been here, she would have either killed it or taken it outside somehow, because she has done this many times before. However, Judy is in Goddard, so I can't use the "roommate-not-afraid-of-bees" plan. I called Matt; he only pointed out the humor in the situation, told me to crush the bee/wasp with a book and if I got stung, he'd make sure to take me to the hospital. Justin was no help either, since he was at the mall. Bossi is currently a 2 hour drive away from State College, so it was pointless to even call him to whine and complain about the bee/wasp in my apartment (even though I obviously did call him to whine and complain about the bee/wasp in the apartment). Britton only made not-so-funny comments about the bee/wasp, comments that were not very helpful either. I went to Miroslav's and told him, Eugenio, Nikola and Miodrag of my predicament. Miroslav looked at me in disbelief and blurted out "Are you serious?" when he realized how genuinely freaked out I was. Finally, the only good samaritan in all State College, Miodrag, volunteered to come kill the bee/wasp. He came with me to my apartment and after about 5 minutes of searching, the insect was found walking around a cookie box in the coffee table. He did something to it while I screamed "Kill it! Kill iiiitttttt!!!!!!"... Eventually, he killed the darn thing. He took it in his hand and showed the dead insect to me. It was too big to be a bee. It must have been a wasp. EVEN WORSE! I absolutely hate both bees and wasps. And this experience has reassured me of my complete fear/phobia of them. Miodrag found a little nest in the porch, and proceeded to do stuff to it with a wooden stick. He told me that he killed the two more bees/wasps that were in the nest. I called maintenance and told them of the bee/wasp problem and they promised to come early the next morning to spray bee/wasp killer. Of course, I was still freaking out, my heart was beating increadibly fast, and I thought I was going to hyperventilate. Then Matt IMed me and suggested that if I was still so freaked out, I could crash on his futon until I calmed down. So I did. Now I'm back at my apartment, still freaked out. I keep poking things, like my open backpack, with my umbrella, just in case there is another bee/wasp lurking inside, just waiting for me to get off-guard and then sting me. *sniff* I HATE BEES! I HATE WASPS! :'-(

Yay! I survived my first year of grad school! Whoo-hoo!!! Ok, so about updates: added two pictures in my Family and Friends page (pics of me, Judy and Justin playing video games over at Matt's place). These pics are a bit old (circa January 2004), and Matt took them, not me... Also, a couple more links in the Games section of my Fun links... Also: Happy Birthday, Steve!

It's official. "Friends" is over. *sigh* It's like, the end of an era! *sniff* But at least Ross and Rachel ended up together, and so the Universe is at peace... In other news, this time from the non-fictitious real world, I am done with finals (whoo-hoo!!!), and now I'm working on one homework that I have due tomorrow, and as soon as I finish I can finally say with pride that I survived my first year of grad school without going crazy...

Feliz Cumpleaños, Mamá Sofa! And now, let's talk about some updates... Actually, a lot of updates... Hmmm, I don't even know where to begin... Ok, let's see... A few new links (don't even remember where, but I know there are some new ones)... In the "Personal Page" I re-organized the order of the bullets, making the one titled "My Life in 200 Words or Less" the first bullet. Also added another person to my page of People's Webpages... The biggest update was in the Photo Gallery. I got rid of the page that had pictures taken with my camera phone because I figured that I should just put those pictures in a relevant page, not all clustered together like I had them before... Soooo, by doing this, I have added a bunch of pictures to the "Seasons" page (also some new Spring pictures there), and a bunch of other pictures to my "Family and Friends" page... What else... Oh, in the "Research Page", I added something to the "Grad School Projects": a group project (Justin, Anand and me) for Stellar Atmospheres about Przybylski's Star (great name, huh?), and I also updated my CV... I guess that's pretty much it for now... I just got in the mail the family portrait pictures that my family had taken in early January, so I need to scan them to put them here. Why not do it as part of this update? Because it's already 4:45am and I am sleepy, so I'm not gonna start scanning pictures now! So, I'll do it tomorrow, sometime before watching Friends (second-to-last episode!!!)... Hmmm... tomorrow... Or should I say later today? Because today is already tomorrow, which would make now technically be part of yesterday... Argh, sleepiness is catching up to me... Must go zzz....

I have yet to take pictures of my car... well, more pictures of my car, hehehe... I've only taken the two pictures that I mention in the last update... Well, what's today's update, you might ask... Today's update is the following: Spring kinda already finally started in State College, PA! There's a bunch of trees that are now all pink, and other trees with green leaves and other trees with little buds growing on them... Oh, and yeah, the bees... Stupid bees, I hate them. It's not fair that it's either cold and no bees or warm and bees. Why can't it be warm and no bees? It'd make me so happy... Anyway, every now and then I take out my phone and take some pictures of the springy conditions around here, and when I have the time I will put them up here. For now, I must concentrate on the last two weeks of classes and finals so that I can say proudly that I survived my first year of grad school and did not go insane...

It snowed a little bit today... It's APRIL, for god's sake, why is it still snowing?!?!? Oh, how much I want Spring to start... Or better yet, Summer. Yes, that would be soooo much better... Mmmmm, I miss those eighty-something degree temperatures... Anyway, little bit of an update. Added a few links to my "Fun Links" page, and added a new story to my "Funny Stories" page (a prank that Justin and I played on Bret)... Also, two days until I get my car!!! Yayyy! Well, this is not quite a huge update... Can't say it should even be called an "update" at all... I noticed I misspelled a word in my March 9 update (hahaha, oopsy), so I corrected it... Also, this page was getting long, so I took some updates outta here and into the Update Archive... And yeah, although the Hubble Ultra Deep Field was released a few weeks ago, the background in my page is still just the Hubble Deep Field. I've grown fond of this image, so I don't think I'll be replacing the HDF with the HUDF any time soon... Nothing more interesting to say... Grad school... Classes... Homework... Blah... I think the most exciting thing going on in my life right now is the fact that I'm looking into buying a car. Yay, car! So today is Sunday... I'm hoping that by Wednesday (that's right, three days from now), I'll have a car. It will either be a 2004 Honda Civic EX or a 2004 Toyota Corolla S (or maybe a 2004 Mazda 3s or a 2004 Hyundai Elantra GT)... I think it's between the Civic and the Corolla... Yay to getting a new car! As soon as I get it, I will obviously be taking tons of pictures of it, so there will soon be a non-boring update in this here page...

Still waiting for Spring to begin... Darn cold... Anyway, I added a page to my Personal Page. This is a "Funny Stories" page, which will host any funny and/or interesting anecdotes that I care to write up in HTML format. For now, the only story present is called "The Insurance Quote", a funny phone conversation I had while shopping around for car insurance...

Ok, a bunch of updates... First, in my Research page (in particular, Grad School Projects and Lunch Talks). I did my first journal talk yesterday, and so I put it here (it was about a paper titled "Why is the Universe Accelerating?")... Second: it snowed... again... All the snow had melted already, but it snowed a ton today... Third: I have added a page to my Personal Page with a whole bunch of pretty astronomy pictures, so go check it out!

Holy bloody hell, I have a lot of links... I'm pretty sure I have well over 500 links, and the lists just keep growing, as I keep finding funny/useful/interesting pages to bookmark... So yeah, I re-arranged them. They are no longer on one long and confusing page. My links are now in multiple pages, arranged by categories (duh), and most importantly, in single columns. I definitely consider this a major update to the site, because it took hours and hours to complete... And so, what's next? Well, as soon as I get some free time (which won't be soon because I have to do some serious homework), I will add a page with my favorite jokes (more specifically, my favorite nerdy jokes), and another page with my favorite astronomical pictures (what kind of an astro grad student would I be if I didn't have a page full of pretty astro pictures?). And yeah, also I will put here the presentation for my journal talk (which is next week), and some info about my research as it becomes available...

No, this is not a Valentine's day update. It just so happens that it's 4:31am and my Friday 13th update happens to have fallen on the next day, which was V-day, of all days... Anyway, there's new stuff here. I've been doing homework all week long, so I figured I'd take the 4:30am break and update my website. The penguin game. Adictive. Extremely adictive. I found two versions (one that keeps score and one that does not). Try it, it's soooo much fun!!! This is the version that does not keep track of scores, and here's the version that has a scoreboard.
